This isn't just another seasonal release, it's where the Saltbox story began.
Ten years ago, Nun on the Run Cream Ale was the very first beer brewed at Saltbox. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we thought there was no better way to mark the occasion than by bringing back the beer that started it all.
The name was inspired by Katharina von Bora, a 16th-century nun who escaped convent life during the Reformation, later married Martin Luther, and became well known for managing their household, including brewing beer. She has become an enduring symbol of courage, independence, and the long tradition of women in brewing.
Cream Ale itself is a classic North American beer style. It's light in colour, smooth, crisp, and incredibly drinkable, brewed as an ale but traditionally cold-conditioned to create a clean, refreshing finish. It's a style that has been enjoyed for well over a century and remains one of the easiest beers to introduce someone to craft beer.
Our 2026 version stays true to that spirit. Brewed with Canadian malt, subtle noble hops, and a clean fermentation, it pours a brilliant golden colour with a smooth malt character, gentle bitterness , and an exceptionally crisp finish.
This release is more than a beer. It's a toast to where we started, everyone who has been part of our journey, and the next chapter of Saltbox Brewing.
